I am sitting here listening to Charlotte talk her way into a long deep sleep for nap time. I anticipate the sound of her snoring to give the all clear for relaxation mode. I am not sure how many of you out there are like me, and I hope there are a few, but I frantically try to get everything done before she falls asleep so I can then sit and relax without feeling guilty. For instance, as she is chatting I am racing around the house washing all of the dishes, separating all of the laundry, dusting the furniture and folding the laundry all before she falls asleep. It is a very fast race to the finish but if I can get it all done just before she falls asleep I figure I just added another 20 minutes onto my relaxation time.
Another thing about nap time which I am hoping does not render me a bad mom is I really look forward to it!! I know we are to be loving spending every minute with our children, which I do, but I also like my 2 hours of silence. I don't think much would get done in the house without a nap time. A toddler really does take all of your attention. I look at my watch around 11 and think, 1 more hour until I can start getting something done.
I am interested to hear if anyone else feels this way and if so, what do you like to do during nap time??

Potty Time
It all began Saturday when Nathan decided to put Charlotte on the potty before her bath. She did not go but then during the bath said she had to go potty. So he put her dripping wet body on the potty and she went! She was so proud of the pee noise. Then yesterday she went twice on the potty so we decided it was time for big girl panties. We headed over to Macy's and purchased Hello Kitty and days of the week underpants. Charlotte carried them all they way home :)
She wore them all day yesterday and no accidents. Today we tried it at daycare too. Only one accident but otherwise loving the potty. Tonight she told me she had to go potty so I took her and waited. She peed and then decided she needed to read some books and hangout. I kept trying to get her to finish and she kept telling me she still had to go. So I left to bathroom and told her to tell me when she was done. Not a minute later she is yelling for me to come and, low and behold, she went poopy in the potty! We were all super excited and Charlotte said "good job Char Char". She is too funny. We decided to call Auntie Katie and Jenny to share the news. While Nate was talking to Jenny and telling her all about the potty and how great Charlotte was doing, Charlotte peed on him!! Tomorrow is a new day!

Jazz Hands
I can no longer use the excuse I had a baby since my baby is now two years old to explain the weight gain!
This morning I attended a Jazzercise class and loved it, again! This is not your grandma's exercise anymore. I used to do it all the time in Skokie while I attended law school and once I returned to Madison I stopped.
I woke up at 8:00 am, got on my workout gear, and headed over to the Baptist church for class. It was me and 10 other woman. A good turn out in my opinion. I walked into the gymnasium and had instant flashbacks of my childhood basketball games, go Lady Cougars! There were woman in all shapes, sizes and ages. My favorite is the lady in the turquoise bike shorts, turquoise t-shirt which read "Jazzin with Deb", and big bouffant hair held in place with a banana clip! Let's just say, I did not feel out of place.
I will definitely return again as I am now a proud member of Weight Watchers ("WW" to the regulars) and need to workout so I can earn more points and then eat more food!! Gotta love how all this works!

I Schmooze I Loose
One of my goals in the New Year is to grow my client base. As such, I decided I need to start networking to get some business. So last night I attended an event with my colleague and my father-in-law. The event had great food, a silent auction, and fake black jack tables. I started to play black jack and was going to quit when I decided to bet $800 and then doubled down. I won! I walked away from the table with over $5000 by the time I finished! I then had the pleasure of trading in the money for 10 raffle tickets of which, of course, I won nothing.
I then bid on a silent auction item and then at the last second entered a bid for another item. It was advertised as dinner for two at a nice restaurant in town plus this Holistic health package. I entered my bid figuring the dinner was worth it. I win again! I pay my money for the prizes and go to collect the goods. I then realize that the Dinner for Two was actually just a $30 gift certificate for dinner. Dinner at this restaurant for 1 person would be $30. I walked away with dinner for one, vitamins, mud mask, tea and room spray for way too much money!! I was bitter.
I did meet some people and had fun overall.
I told my father-in-law I started a Blog to which he responded "What does that mean". Gotta Love the Baby Boomer generation!

New Beginnings
The new year is upon us and that means new beginnings. This includes my new adventure of blogging. I am trying to enter into this new technology phase so forgive my slow transition.
With the new year comes resolutions of which I have made several. These include learn to sew, learn to cook, loose the baby weight (after 2 years), grow my legal practice, and enjoy my life. It may seem like an oxymoron to say loose weight and enjoy my life but I am hoping they can coexist!
I have been married to my college sweetheart for almost 6 years and have one daughter who just turned 2. She is a bundle of energy, fun and keeps me focused on what is really important.
In my spare time I am an attorney practicing in family law, real estate, and estate planning. In this line of work you hear all kinds of stories which usually make me feel grateful even when I think my life is upside down.
I am hoping to use this blog to entertain you with my life and gain your support to know I am not the only one WHO LIVES LIKE THIS :)
